Kenyan Premier League side Gor Mahia have completed the signing of Rayon Sports pair of left back Abouba Sibomana and right back Karim Nizigiyimana for a combined fee of US$16,000 (about Rwf11.3m). Last week, the pair travelled to Kenya to finalise their personal terms before Gor Mahia paid US$8000 for each player, according to the Rayon Sports spokesperson, Aimee Emmanuel Ndayisabye on Monday. “It is true that they have gone to Gor Mahia and we have given them everything they needed to go, we wish them all the best,” Ndayisabye told this paper. The Kenyan Premier League is due to start next month when Gor Mahia will be looking for a third consecutive league title and a record 15th as well as an improved performance in Caf Champions League. The 25-year-old Sibomana, who has represented Rwanda national team since 2010, could now miss to play in next year’s Africa Nations Championship (Chan) finals tournament which will be hosted in Rwanda. Chan is only eligible for players who play in their domestic leagues. Rayon Sports is currently fourth on the table standings with 21 points from 13 games at the end of first round, 11 points behind arch-rivals and table leaders APR, who are five clear of second placed AS Kigali. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
