DHL Rwanda yesterday offered free eye care to hundreds of people and gave out 200 eye glasses to those who needed them. The exercise was carried out by eye specialist from South Africa in conjunction with DHL Express Rwanda.DHL Rwanda country manager Julie Mutoni said that the company is happy to give back to the people of Rwanda by playing a role in improving the health of those in need. “We are committed to not only working with Rwandans in matters of business, but also giving back to the communities.” She added that DHL will continue working with various institutions to ensure the good health of Rwandans. “Life is wealth and therefore when people’s health is well monitored they play a big role in wealth creation and general development,” said Dr Mohau Ralekhetla, an eye specialist. He said that his group will travel to 46 African countries on a similar mission. “We have been to Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and we are continuing until we cover 46 countries,” said Mercy Ships, the head of the team.Jackline Uwera, a Genocide survival from Gatsata, said she was happy to get eye Glasses. “I have been having eye sight problems for the past ten years and nothing has been done to improve my sight” said 50-year old Alphonse Munyawera, who also walked away with a pair of eye glasses.
