Editorial: Better leaders for tomorrow

Now that the national parliamentary campaigns are taking place, we are left wondering who will get the majority vote.As children, we are taught to look up to and obey those in authority. These include people like our parents, teachers, pastors and even the prefects in our schools. People in authority are leaders. They are put in place to guide and direct those whom they lead. This is helpful so that confusion and misunderstandings are minimized in the different places we are in be it the family, community or our country. Order and organization will be seen in a community which has a good leader. Good leaders are disciplined, understanding, organized, have respect for themselves and others. They put the needs of those they lead before their own needs. However, becoming a good leader can start at a young age. It is something you just don’t wake up and become. A good leader has to be dedicated and committed to whatever they do. They have to deliver results to the benefit of those they lead. It takes a lot of sacrifice to be a leader especially when still in school. This is so because leaders need extra time to keep order in class and at the same time have to perform in their class work just like other children. Remember that every person is a leader. All they have to do is be determined to develop good leadership qualities. Ends
