Ndoli named in APR’s Caf squad

Goalkeeper Jean Claude Ndoli has been named in APR FC’s 27-man squad that will compete in the Caf Champions League that commences next month when they take on Mozambique’s Liga Desportiva de Maputo. The 28-year-old Ndoli, also the number one choice goalkeeper for the senior national team – Amavubi, has been undergoing rehabilitation following surgery to his right knee in Algeria last year. He suffered the injury during Rwanda’s 2-0 loss to Congo Brazzaville in the 2015 Afcon third round qualifier in July last year. The army side has included the custodian in the squad for the continental competition despite him being far from making a return to competitive football. APR spokesman George Gatete explained that, “We included Ndoli’s name on the list of players to compete in the Caf Champions League this year because he may not be ready to play in the preliminary round next month but he can feature if we make it to the next round.” Ndoli joined APR in 2006 and has been a key player for the army side winning six league titles, seven Peace Cup trophies and two Cecafa Kagame Cup titles. Since his absence, the military side has turned to youngster Olivier Kwizera who has conceded only five goals this season and is the number one choice custodian for the U-23 national side. Meanwhile, Rayon Sports have also named their squad for the Caf Confederation Cup.
