Editor, The Girinka programme has enormously improved livelihoods of the people but joint mission is required to ensure the cows are fed properly on balanced diets as to improve on their milk production. Also worth noting is that there are some beneficiaries who sell their cows even before passing on first female off-springs to other needy families which is a vice to the programme that requires a measure by Minagri/Minaloc mainly to guard against such occurrence. Our legislators should get us a law that ensures such malpractice is eliminated completely; otherwise we thank the good leadership of our country for homegrown initiative to eradicate malnutrition.
