Regional Police officers complete UN course

Twenty-eight Police officers from four regional countries completed a Training of Trainers (ToT) United Nations course at the Rwanda National Police Peace Support Training in Gishari, Rwamagana District, yesterday. The month-long Formed Police Unit (FPU) ToT was attended by officers from Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Rwanda, the host. It was organised by RNP in partnership with the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF). The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, Dan Munyuza, while officiating at the closing of the course, challenged the officers to be catalysts of peace in the region. He challenged the officers to make good use of acquired skills and knowledge to enhance peace and stability in the region. “I have no doubt the knowledge and skills you acquired will help you train those that you left back home as we put our efforts together towards achieving the EASF mandate,” Munyuza said. “This kind of cooperation will provide a framework for our forces to improve performance through shared experience and training,” he added. Speaking on behalf of the Police students, Supt. Etima Twaha Maula, from Uganda, said the course is “prestigious” and thanked RNP and EASF for organising it.
