NORTHERN PROVINCE GICUMBI — Residents of Gisuna, Byumba Sector in Gicumbi district have been urged to avoid drunken tendencies in order to minimise crimes. Addressing a meeting of village (midugudu) coordinators, last week, Ely Fatako, the area Cell coordinator advised the residents to maintain security right from their homes. Village coordinators attributed acts of lawlessness and prostitution to drunkenness caused by local brew commonly known as kanyanga and ‘Urwagwa, which usually results in fights in the night. The Sector electoral commission official, Maxime Simango, urged Gisuna residents to maintain peace during the ongoing parliamentary campaigns. “Peace and harmony should be our priority at all times in order to realise development and successful elections of our Parliamentary candidates,” said Simango. Officials of Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) and police also attended the meeting. Ends
