Team Karisimbi dominated the two-day cycling race on Monday which was organised by the Rwanda Cycling Federation in preparation for the Tour du Rwanda scheduled for November 16-23. Hadi led Team Rwanda Karisimbi to victory. Karisimbi led by elite cyclists like Hadi Janvier, Jean Bosco Nsengimana Valens Ndayisenga and Joseph Biziyaremye scooped the top cash prize of Rwf 300, 000. Riders raced for 127km from Musanze to Muhanga in the first stage while the second stage from Muhanga to Rubavu had 138km. Team Akagera finished in second place getting a cash prize of Rwf200, 000 while Team Muhabura came third and took Rwf100, 000. This year’s 8-day Tour du Rwanda race will start from Amahoro stadium and run through seven stages: Kigali-Kibungo, Rwamagana-Musanze, Musanze-Muhanga, Muhanga-Rubavu, and Rubavu-Nyanza and conclude in Kigali. It will attract 16 teams from South Africa, Kenya, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Algeria, Morocco, Cameroon, Gabon, the USA (Novo Nordisk Development Team), France (Haute Savoie) and Germany (Team Bike Aid).
