Rwanda Football Association (Ferwafa) is set to sign a three-year contract with Tele10 Group of companies to broadcast league games live in the 2014/15 season that kicks off today. This follows an announcement made by the Ferwafa president Vincent Degaule Nzamwita a month ago to professionalise the league and get a sponsor who is ready to increase the league sponsorship that can supplement the budget for this season. The CEO of Tele10 Cedric Pierre-Louis said that, “We shall let you know when something comes up.” However, sources at the private media company confirmed the agreement to Times Sport and emphasised that the landmark deal will be signed by the end of next week and will commence immediately. Speaking exclusively to Times Sport, the newly appointed Ferwafa spokesman Moussa Hakizimana said, “The deal is yet to be signed between Ferwafa and Tele10 because some details are yet to be agreed upon but this should be done soon.” According to Hakizimana, one or two games will be broadcast every match day and this will be agreed upon between Tele10 and the competitions committee. This will be the first time that league games are broadcast live in Rwanda, and according to analysts this is a move that will revolutionalise the branding of football in this country. It is not yet clear how much money has been invested in the deal by Tele10.
