Ferwafa boss removed from Amavubi win bonus list

The ministry of Sports and Culture has removed the name of Rwanda Football Federation president, Vincent Nzamwita, from the list of Amavubi players and officials expected to get a bonus pay for the win against Congo Brazzaville in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in August. According to the Ministry, Nzamwita is not entitled to this money since he gets travel allowances whenever he travels with the team. The Ferwafa chief was on the original list which was submitted to the Ministry for payment. In his defence after the story circulated in the local media on Wednesday, Nzamwita said putting his name on the list was a mistake. “Mistakes can be made anywhere in administration. As leaders we receive (travel allowances) and not bonus so it was a mistake for my name to be on that list,” Nzamwita said. The bonus is supposed to be paid to 20 players and five technical staff that include the head coach Stephen Constantine, assistant coach (Vincent Mashami), goalkeepers’ coach (Ibrahim Mugisha), team manager (Alfred Ngarambe) and the kit man. According to a letter from the ministry, which Times Sport has a copy; the bonus money will be deposited directly on the individual’s accounts, contrary to Ferwafa’s request that it should be deposited on the federation account. The Ministry will pay up to US$49,000 around Rfw11, 184,000m for the players and US$16,000 for the technical staff. Each player is entitled to US$3,000 (about Rwf2.1m) for beating Congo Brazzaville 2-0 in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers second leg on August 2, while head coach will get US$4,000.Initially, Ferwafa had said each player would get US$5500. The Ministry also turned down Ferwafa’s request to deposit the bonus pay for former team manager, Ngarambe on the federation account. Since 1994, Ferwafa has been headed by General Caesar Kayizari (1994-2005), who was replaced by Major General Jean Bosco Kazura (2006-2011), Celestin Ntagungira (2011-2013). Nzamwita has been in the position for ten months.
