Volleyball National coach Paul Bitok has named a provisional 19-player squad to start preparations for this year’s Africa U23 Championships scheduled for November 5-13 in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt. Paul Bitok. League and Caree d’AS winners APR has five players, Kigali Volleyball Club has four players, St Joseph and College Christ Roi have two players each, Petit Séminaire Vilgo Federis, Inatek, Lycée de Nyanza and Rayon Sports each has one player. There are also two professional players in the team which start non residential training today at Amahoro indoor stadium. The final 12-player team will be named on October 28. The African Championships will serve as qualifier for the U23 World Championships, where the two finalists will represent Africa in the FIVB Men’s U23 World Championships 2015, which will be hosted by Brazil from October 6-13. The team will travel to Nairobi on October 30 for the warm-up games with Prisons, GSU and Cooperative Bank before flying to Cairo for the final warm-up match against Egypt on November 3. Provision squad: Aimable Mutuyimana, Yves Mutabazi, Fabrice Nkezabahizi, Bonny Mutabazi, Barack Rugira (APR), Kigali Volleyball Club has Sylvester Ndayisabye, Patrick Ruzindana, Samuel ‘Tyson’ Niyogisubizo while St. Joseph have Patrick Rudakubana and Alfred Muvunyi.Others are; Fabrice Rugina, Pracide Habarugira, Irene Cyusa (Christ Roi), Peter Bigirimana (INATEK), Fred Musoni (Rayon Sports), Maurice K. Niyonshuti (PSVF), Jolim Nkurunziza (Lycée de Nyanza) and Ivan Mahoro Nsabimana (Ural Federal University in Russia), Nelson Muragwa (Japan).
