King James’ popular Yantumye video set him back by a cool Rwf1.5million. Compared to the amount of money most local musicians put in making videos, King James invested a ‘fortune’. But the 2012 Primus Guma Guma Superstar winner said it is something he did to show that it takes an effort to come up with something good for his ardent fans. (Yantumye by King James. (File) The singer launched his first single in 2006 albeit with little success; later in 2009 he released another single dubbed Intinyi which won the hearts of music fans around the country. At the end of 2010, King James had firmly established his name as a leading R&B artiste, competing for market dominance against Rwandan artistes like Tom Close, Meddy and The Ben who were a hit during that time.
