Ndabaga Cycling Team in collaboration with Rwanda Bookmobile and Spoke Academy, have organized a Car Free Day session for children” aged between 7-13 years. The kids will be taught how to ride bicycles and understand traffic signs on Sunday, October 1. Their race will take place at the intersection of Kigali Convention Center near Simba Supermarket, in the Gishushu area. Ndabaga Cycling Team coach Eugène Uwambaje said that they organized the event in order to encourage young people to do cycling. We have designed an event to help the children with a safe space where they can interact with other children. We want to encourage young people to love of cycling. We are doing all this to help the kids, Uwambaje said. We want every child in Kigali to have the opportunity to ride a bicycle when they participate in Car Free Day. Uwambaje said that all children are welcome even if they don't have bicycles. A child who has a bicycle should bring it. We will also provide a bicycle, helmet and water. This is the third time the event is organised. “It is a project that helps children learn to speak English, be able to communicate and to learn more about nutrition, the lifestyle of the player.” Ndabaga Cycling Team organized the event as part of the competition organized by the Rwanda Cycling Association (FERWACY). The team has riders like Yvonne Masengesho, Martha Ntakurimana and Djazilla Mwamikqzi who participated in the World Cycling Championships in Glasgow and will play in the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
