A campaign to promote the reading culture Saturday moved to Nyamata with students of Green Hills Academy sharing reading materials with fellow students of Nyamata primary and secondary schools. The week-long campaign is part of the national activities to mark the International Literacy Day, celebrated annually on September 8. The students shared reading skills. Nyamata students also received a donation of books Green Hills Acadamy. Omega Alexandra, 12, from Nyamata Primary School, said she learnt a lot from the one-day reading experience. “I am very happy, because I have learnt the meaning and pronunciation of many words from the book that we read titled, History Spies. Wilson Byamihanga the Head teacher of Nyamata High School thanked Green Hills students for sharing knowledge. Tagaba Monica, the legal adviser from Vision Hope Rwanda, one of the promoters of the reading culture in Rwanda, said such collaborations ares good for rural schools. “It’s easy for students to learn from each other, and more especially connecting students from urban areas to those in the rural.
