Dear editor,Recently an Australian reporter, Nigel Brenan and his Canadian colleague Amanda Lindhout went missing in Somalia. In fact, a representative for the transitional government told the AFP news agency he believed the two were in captivity, but their where-about unknown. The alarm was raised on Saturday when a security official at their hotel in Mogadishu said they had not returned from a trip to visit displaced people outside the city. So one wonders why journalists continue to risk their lives in such countries. Somalia is a country where even armed peacekeepers are at great risk. Therefore, when I see unarmed journalists venturing into that dangerous environment, I fail to understand their ambitions. Is it because they want to make good news or history? I need to be educated.
