Senator roots for investment in education

The chairman of the Senatorial Standing Commission on Political Affairs, Senator Joseph Karemera, has called on investors to fully exploit the education sector. He made the remarks over the weekend at Riviera High School during a ceremony held in honor of students who exhibited exceptional abilities this year. “Government has put in place a reserve to financially help investors who would like to build schools. Many more investors should make use of such incentives to supplement government’s efforts of promoting a knowledge based economy,” he said. 71 students mostly from ‘candidate’ classes received certificates of recognition in different fields. The Senator, who also is a board member of the school, called for increased parent responsibility as a means towards building a disciplined and patriotic young generation. The school’s Principal, Anthony Cooke, said that award-giving ceremonies would be held annually to promote career guidance and also show students how much the community appreciates their hard work. While many students got awards for abilities like; academic excellence, discipline, sports, music dance and drama, others were also awarded for having been the first to register at the school early this year. Situated 20 minutes from the city centre of Kigali, Riviera High School sits in the scenic hills of Kabuga with a cool breeze from the countryside. Ends
