THE Cecafa secretariat has given a ‘thumbs up’ to Rwanda for organising a successful 2014 Cecafa Kagame Cup tournament. Speaking to Saturday Sport on Thursday, Cecafa secretary general Nicholas Musonye, said, “I want to thank the Ferwafa team and the entire country for the good organization. We have a flawless championship, everything has run according to programme.” “Secondly, I want to commend the teams for giving us good quality football since we began the group stages. “This is one of the best tournaments we have had in recent years. We are very satisfied, in terms of improvement in the standards of football in our region, I believe that we are on the right path but I still want to emphasise the importance of youth football,” he noted. He added: “You have seen that as much as we try to improve football standards here, our youth programme must be enhanced so that we continue generating more young players to feed the senior teams.” The regional championships will climax on Sunday with the final at Amahoro stadium. The winner will take home a cash prize of $30,000, while the runner-up will get $20,000 and the third-placed team will walk away with $10,000.
