Rwanda will not take apart in the first ever women’s U23 African Nations Volleyball Championship, which will take a place from September 4-15 in Algeria. According to the Rwanda Volleyball Federation Secretary General, Christian Hatumimana, the women team will not compete in the event because Africa Volleyball Confederation communicated late and there is not enough time to prepare the team. “They didn’t communicate early, which could help us prepare the team; so we are not going to take part in the tournament,” he said on Friday. Hatumimana also noted that the men’s team is also doubtful for the first ever U23 African Championships, which will take place in Egypt from November 6-13. The competition acts as a qualifier for the FIVB Men’s U23 World Championship 2015 for the winner and the second placed teams. Tunisia and Egypt represented Africa in the first Men’s U23 World Championship in Brazil 2013 as the two top ranked African teams.
