U-19 boys cricket team continues impressive form in Zambia tourney

Rwanda’s U-19 boys’ cricket team has continued their dominance in this year’s Pepsi ICC-Africa Division Two tournament in Zambia. Coach Edward Pearson’s starlets recorded their second win in a row with victory against Swaziland on Sunday. The team started with a comfortable 188 run victory over Mozambique on Saturday. At the Leopards Hill ground, Swaziland elected to bat first and posted a total of 117 runs for 10 wickets. Top scorer for Swaziland was Sydney William, who scored 63 runs not out. The best performers with the ball for Rwanda were Freddy Ndayisenga, who took 3 for 14 in 7 overs and team captain Don De Dieu Mugisha, who took 3 wickets for 35 runs in 10 overs. In reply, Rwanda had a fight on their hands as they lost 3 wickets in the first 7 overs with a score of 53 but the middle order recovered well to post a total score of 121 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Swaziland’s Sydney William did so well with the ball as he did with the bat taking 3 wickets in 4 overs and gave away a mere 8 runs. Rwanda’s top scorer was Clinton Rubagumya, who scored 63 runs not out. By press time, Rwanda was up against Tanzania.
