The New Times’ women football team clinched the DStv 4x4 Media Football Challenge title on Saturday after finishing top on the table. Organised by DStv Rwanda, the one-day tournament attracted five media houses in men’s category namely Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA), Fine FM, TV/Radio10, ARJ and The New Times while only three media houses namely Radio10, Fine FM and The New Times were represented in the women’s category. Glory Iribagiza and Linda Mbabazi Kagire were part of the TNT women team that won the trophy after finishing top in a three-team round robin competition with six points. The team started with an impressive form, beating Radio/TV10 3-2 in the first match before cementing their glory after defeating Fine FM 2-0 in the second match. “We are very excited for the victory,” Iribagiza said after winning the trophy. “We did not have time to prepare well but I think we deserved to win it... our teamwork has payed off.” Meanwhile, Rwanda Broadcasting Agency (RBA) won the men’s trophy after finishing top on the final standings with 10 points out of a possible 12 points.
