Rwandair has today started operations on the Entebbe-Juba (South Sudan) route following the recently-granted ‘fifth freedom traffic rights’ by Uganda’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). “We are delighted to further strengthen our regional operations with today’s increase of flight frequency from Uganda to South Sudan. We hope this will serve as a key link for business and trade between the two countries,” John Mirenge, the RwandAir chief executive officer, said in a statement over the weekend. The airline will be operating flights on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from Entebbe International Airport, with departures at 7:00am. On Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, it will depart Entebbe at 3:35pm and arrive in Juba an hour later. The national career will deploy CRJ-900 and Boeing 737-700 aircraft. According to Jean Paul Nyirubutama, RwandAir’s deputy chief executive officer, who is also the chief operations officer, the new route provides the airline seamless connections to the entire RwandAir network, in particular between Kigali, Johannesburg, Nairobi, Lagos, Accra, Dar es Salaam and Dubai.
