For the second year running, Educat—a social enterprise, has partnered up with GT Bank to award high potential small and medium entrepreneurs in Rwanda. This year, cash prizes worth Rwf11 million, air tickets to any on the KLM destinations, a month of free advertising on igihe.com as well as investment and mentoring opportunities will be handed to deserving entrepreneurs from different parts of the country. Educat aims to enable change makers in Rwanda to create significant and positive change for themselves, their community and nation. Denise Museminali, the officer in charge of communication said the competition is open to entrepreneurs in any sector—whether manufacturing, services, tourism and others. “This is especially important to the youth to travel down the path of entrepreneurship, business and more broadly self sustenance. Educat’s focus is the growth of entrepreneurs and the development of the entrepreneurial mindset amongst the youth of Rwanda,” he said. One the applicants for the awards who preferred to keep his name hidden told this paper that awards such as the Educat – GT Bank Award are just one of the many programs in Rwanda that show the nation’s commitment to home grown economic solutions through entrepreneurship.
