Our main story this week is as sad as it is shocking. In a world as tough as this one it is deeply depressing when our friends, supposedly a source of constancy and trust, let us down. And for what? A man! Some say that there is an underlying tension in relationships between girls that makes us compete with each other rather than get along. And while we all recognise the need for a home, a family and emotional stability, we often underestimate the importance of friendship. Female friendships can give us the support and confidence found nowhere else. It is hardly surprising the tale has such a sad ending. Girls, we must learn to trust each other enough to put each other’s interests first. We should learn to consider one another as kin, not competitors. On another note altogether, as elections approach, Frank Kagabo has been out finding out what we think about the new voter cards. If (like many of us here!) you’re not too sure what they’re all about. Pan Butamire is away this week and while we all miss his insightful thoughts, Eddie Kagire has stepped into his shoes to get us thinking about what’s behind the sparkling Olympic medals this year.
