THE MEN’S basketball coach Moise Mutokambali is determined to guide Rwanda to the finals of the Zone V Afro-basket tournament. The Zone V Afro-basketball championship scheduled to be held in Kampala, Uganda from September 21-30 will act as a qualifying platform for the African Championship as well as the All Africa Games. The Uganda regional edition will attract hosts Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Kenya and defending champions Egypt. Finalists will earn a ticket to the African basketball championship to be held next year in Tunisia while the winner will represent the region in next year’s All Africa Games due in Congo Brazzaville in August. The team comprising of only local players started preparations last week. Professional players are expected to join the camp in late August. “Our target is to at least reach the final as we seek to qualify for the Afro-basketball finals. And I think this mission is possible,” “We know we will be facing good, elite teams but with the strength of players summoned, I believe we will stage a good show in Kampala,” added Mutokambali.
