RWANDA LEAD professional golfer Jean Baptiste Hakizimana has departed for United States ready to make his mark on his debut in the US PGA tour scheduled to start in August and end in November. The PGA Tour is the organiser of the main professional golf tours played primarily by men in the United States and North America. Hakizimana left for US last night aboard Brussels Airlines to Belgium, where he will connect to Washington before heading to Atlanta. Speaking to Times Sport yesterday, he said, “I am looking forward to the challenge ahead. I am delighted for being one of the few regional golfers set to compete in the US PGA tour.” The 29-year-old declared that he would be seeking to stage good performances because a win in any tour will be “a win for my nation and I am so grateful to my club and everyone who contributed to the success of this trip.” By competing in the West Florida golf tour, he will be able to secure a Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA) tour card to enable him compete in worldwide professional tours. While in Florida, he will compete in 22 golf tours which have attracted elite golf players from United States and North America.
