In ranking for the Africa Tour, Rwanda jumped two places to sixth position from eighth position last year. Valens Ndayisenga is the highest ranked Rwandan rider in 14th position and he also ranked 4th in the U23 category. After the rankings were released, the newly appointed Minister of Sports and Culture Joseph Habineza sent a congratulatory message to the Rwanda Cycling Federation president Aimable Bayingana. “Well done to Ferwacy and other federations should learn from them. We need to have strategies to improve. We need to coach young people and not only in Kigali City but other parts of the country and then work as team to get results. I don’t like blame games!” Habineza’s message reads. Rwanda is ranked fifth in the U23 category and the country is set to compete in this year’s world championships for the first time. The championships will be held in September in Ponferrada, Spain.
