Sunday finals Football (Final) Air force 2-0 Division 3 3rd/4th place play-off Division 4 3-0 GHQs Basketball Air force 60-25 GHQs Volleyball Division 4 3-0 GHQs Handball Division 3 15-7 Airforce RWANDA DEFENCE FORCES (RDF)’s Airforce football club are the winners of this year’s Inter-Brigade football title after defeating Division three 2-0 in the final played yesterday at Ferwafa artificial turf. Private Pappy Emmanuel Ntabwoba and Caporal Enock Mukimbiri scored the all important goals for the Air force side. Speaking to Times Sport after the game, Air-force team captain, Sergeant Jean Claude Nteziryayo said, “We are happy for winning this tournament. We were determined since the start of this tournament and I believe we deserved the title.” Huye district-based Division 4 finished third after registering a 3-0 win over Kanombe-based General Headquarters. In basketball, Airforce also won the title after thrashing General Headquarters 60-25 in the final. But they failed to maintain their winning streak in volleyball finals as they lost 3-0 to Division 4. In handball, Rubavu district-based Division 3 was crowned winners following a 15-7 win over Air force. In athletics, Private Ange Kirenga won the 400m race, Buhoro Kayiranga claimed the 800m category while Caporal Callixte Kayiranga won a gold medal in the 5000m respectively. The two-month long Rwanda Defence forces games’ finals were graced by Chief of Defence Staff, General Patrick Nyamvumba who also handed over trophies and medals to winners at Amahoro National Stadium during the official closing ceremony.
