It’s a telling tale to all youth, that regardless of their circumstances — historical, emotional, and socio-economic — the beauty of life is that every passing day offers the possibility of extraordinary, yet unsuspected change. After all he had been through, Mr Nkunda wouldn’t have dreamed that his destiny could be so full of bright promises. But it only took one little twist of life — the meeting of a compassionate woman, Anne Heyman — and the future became his to mould. He could finally move towards becoming who he was meant to be, as opposed to being defined by his life’s painful circumstances. That is a powerful lesson for all youth; believe in yourself and life.
