RWANDA’S INTERNATIONAL cyclist, Bonaventure Uwizeyimana has joined France’s topflight cycling division side Vendée U. The 21-year-old Uwizeyimana who previously featured for South Africa’s MTN-Qhubeka WCC for the last two years was endorsed as a member of the French side after his impressive performance at this year’s La Tropicale Amissa Bongo (Tour of Gabon) held in January. Team Rwanda rider Uwizeyimana registered a record of the youngest cyclist to ever win a stage in the Amissa Bongo Tour after claiming the tour’s fifth round ahead of elites like Mouhssine Lahsaini (Maroc), Tim De Troyer (Belgium), Yohann Gene (France) and Meron Teshome Hagos (Eritrea). Vendée U cycling club of France has been recommended for developing talents like Eritrea’s Natnael Berhane who later joined Eurpcar, also based in France. Uwizeyimana landed in France on Tuesday morning and he’s set to start training with his new club today.
