THE BATTLE for this year’s national volleyball league title lies between the two rival sides Rayon Sports and APR. Rayon Sports, placed in Pool C defeated Christ Roi 3-0 and Lycee de Nyanza 3-0 at Nyanza courts to go top of the standings, tied on 48 points with APR. Lycee de Nyanza also registered a 3-0 set win over Christ Roi in the other group match. On the other hand, APR who have a game in hand against KVC snatched a 3-0 set win over Rusumo High School in the Pool A. Kirehe suffered a 2-3 loss to St Joseph in the other group match. Elsewhere, GSOB lost to PSVF and INATEK 3-2 and 3-0 respectively while INATEK recorded a 3-1 set win over PSVF in Pool B while in Pool D, Kigali Volleyball Club defeated Umubano Blue Tigers and UR-College of Education 3-2 and 3-0 respectively before Umubano Blue Tigers secured a 3-0 set win over UR-College of Education. Should APR win their game in hand against KVC in the upcoming weekend and go on to win the final group match against Rayon Sports, then they will be on course to win the title which will be decided after the play-offs round. The play-offs round will only attract the top four placed clubs on the overall standings. In the women category, APR beat St Alloys and Ruhango 3-0, 3-0 respectively while St Alloys managed to defeat Ruhango 3-1. Rwanda Revenue Authority, Genocide Memorial tournament winners had an easy 3-0 and 3-1 set wins over St Joseph IPRC Kigali and St Joseph to maintain its lead at the summit of the standings with 43 points, six points ahead of rivals APR.
