The past few weeks have been good for the local music industry as artistes dropped hits after hits including some topping charts of Kigali In no particular order, we highlight new songs trending in Kigali that you can add to your weekend playlist. Rwanda meets Burundi as star names Kenny Sol and Double Jay connect for ‘Quality,’ an afro-fusion head-nodder produced by Element. The song generated over 200, 000 streams on different platforms in its first week, making it the most loved track in Kigali at the moment. Having featured Burundi’s finest, Double Jay, who produced ‘Ibisusu’ also contributed to the takeover of the track. It is safe to say that Ariel Wayz’s new EP, TTS, which holds hit songs including ‘Bad’ stole charts of Kigali. The EP dropped five days ago but is still on repeat in pubs and clubs of Kigali. Produced by Santana and directed by Nkotanyi Ferry, ‘Bad’ has generated over 100, 000 views on YouTube since it dropped last week. The king of Zouk returns with new single ‘Hashtag’ which is produced in the same genre as ‘Ni Bido’ and ‘Mi Ca Sa.’ Hashtag dropped on September 5, but has close to 1 million streams on different platforms. It was produced by Element and mixed by Bob pro. Renowned traditional singer Ruti is on his journey to make his own style of music by mixing traditional sounds with modern genres like Afrobeat, Hip-hop and drill. After appearing on Rwanda Rwe’jo 2, he dropped ‘Cyane’ which is among the most tending tracks on local airwaves and televisions. The song was produced by X on the beat alongside Bob Pro in a fusion of traditional sounds and Afrobeat genre. Bushali is back with ‘Bad Man’, a soulful Afro fusion track taking Kigali by storm. The artist who is popularly known on pioneering kinyatrap has been in the past stepping on different genres as part of expanding his sound. ‘Bad Man’ was produced by a longtime collaborator, producer Kina Beat. Bikaze, B-Threy After producing a successful album, ‘Muheto Wambere’ the renowned rapper has started releasing video clips of some of the dope tracks on the album and ‘Bikaze’ is among them. The drill track was shot in slums of Kampala, Uganda by Eazy cut, and produced by Ehlers on the beat. Kevin Klein is on a journey to introduce Amapiano in Rwanda and his recent EP, My Sound, is making Rwandans vibe sounds of Amapiano with additional vocals of local artistes. The EP holds big tunes including ‘Amanywa Ni’Joro’ produced by the artiste himself in Amapiano genre.
