Editor, REFER TO the story, “African leaders back creation of Eastern African Standby Force” (The New Times, June 27). Now this is what is called good politics at work. What is being built here has all our regional strategic interests at heart—no more bullying from other regional blocs on how we have to inherently protect our security interests. I always held the belief that we were a country growing with naked skin in a potential warzone with DR Congo and its allies being Rwanda’s biggest strategic threat to its security. Now with this, that will be history and Rwanda shall continue to grow sustainably. Leadership and the big picture have to be at its best to keep this initiative working and objective. DM, Rwanda
