MUSANZE District Council on Friday elected Jean Claude Musabyimana, as the new vice mayor in charge of economic affairs. Musabyimana 42, a masters degree holder in water management and an expert in agriculture, previously served in various projects under the Ministry of Agriculture. He was also a lecturer at the Higher Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, now part of the University of Rwanda. He polled 85 percent of 268 voters cast against Jean de Dieu Shyirakera who represents Cyuve sector. He said that he will focus on transforming Musanze into another city after Kigali city. “Musanze needs improvement to suit the interest of tourists and residents in general. My main goal is to improve services needed by residents, investors and other people whose developmental projects will take the district to another level,” he said after elections He pledged to work with colleagues to increase district revenues.
