Time for Luis Suarez to get help. People go to rehab for all kinds of addictions and I believe there’s someone out there who can cure him of this biting habit. Luckily for Suarez, he’s a married man. Had he been a single father, Child Services would probably have taken his children away in case the urge to bite strikes again; and it surely will. Growing up, we had a dog at home and I remember my parents stressing that we were not to feed it on raw meat. See, we also had a few chickens and mum and dad feared that once the dog ‘tasted blood’, it would maul not just the chicken but humans too and that’s how Poppy ended up eating mainly unsalted boiled fish most of his life, which must have been 6 or 7 years. Looking back, I now understand why he wasn’t such a fierce dog! Not once did I hear him bark at strangers but then again, barking dogs don’t bite, do they? The other theory of course is that being denied something makes you want it even more. Suarez is a multimillionaire sportsman and if he wants to stay on top of his game, he must take care of himself and this includes his health and what he eats. I’m sure he has a nutritionist and he or she must have put him on a meatless diet. Anyone who has tasted meat knows how delicious it is, at least I do. Suarez has probably gone months without any red meat and he must have been craving it badly when he sniffed Giorgio Chiellini’s shoulder. Call me crazy but I believe there’s some good in this saga for Liverpool. I doubt Barcelona, Real Madrid or any other clubs that had eyes on Suarez are willing to break the bank now. Only problem is if the anticipated ban extends to domestic games, in which case Liverpool would lose out. Suarez reminds me of Steven, a brilliant sales executive I used to work with. I’ve never met a more hardworking marketer. Steven didn’t just meet his target. He went above and beyond and the company always relied on him to turn the numbers around even during ‘dry’ months. However all the hard work was tainted by his temper that left him at odds with almost everybody. If it wasn’t someone on his team, it was the food guy, the driver or the cleaners. Once, he even traded blows with one of his closest friends over a girl he didn’t even care about. Another incident was with a client after the latter backed out of a big deal at the last minute. Steven had banked on the hefty commission he was to get and he was so distraught he had to be restrained from attacking the client. For a long time, he had got away with it because the company didn’t want to let him go until they had a replacement. Someone eventually came along, not as good as Steven but the misconduct was getting out of hand. Suarez could be about to suffer the same fate.
