SC KIYOVU goal keeper Evariste Mutuyimana is on the verge of joining 2009 Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions Sofapaka after agreeing terms with the Nairobi-based club. According to a statement on the Sofapaka official website, the club’s president Elly Kalekwa confirmed that the club has agreed terms with the former Police FC goalie and his current club. However, Mutuyimana still has some clearances to work on at the Mumena-based club before he joins the Kenyan side. Mutuyimana was a member of the Sofapaka squad that sought promotion in 2008 and Kalekwa believes that he will return a better player, having featured for his national team. “We have agreed terms with the player and his club. He played for Sofapaka during the nationwide days and has since chalked up some good experience including playing for the Rwanda national team,” he said. Kalekwa added that the keeper’s quality in terms of leadership and experience will be crucial for the side as they eye a second ever league win. Mutuyimana’s arrival will add to the speculation that veteran keeper and skipper Duncan Ochieng could well be on his way out even as he recovers from an injury sustained in the first leg.
