Swiss Damien Wenger crashed out Rwanda Open M25 Week II after a 6-4 6-1 shock semifinal defeat to French Corentin Denolly on Saturday. Wenger won the first week of the tournament after defeating Oliver Crawford in the final and he was primed to win the second week. However, his hopes of defending his glory came to a shocking end as he fell to a 4-6, 2-6 defeat to Denolly. They won the first week tournament before American Nicholas Bybel and Ukrainian Eric Vanshelboim beat them in the semifinal of the second week. Meanwhile, Week I finalist Crawford qualified for the final again following a dominant 6-1 6-0 win over Burundian Orly Guy Iradukunda. The tournament’s top seed will be looking clinch his first ever Rwanda Open M25 trophy in an interesting game against Denolly. Elsewhere, Bybel and Vanshelboim were crowned Rwanda Open M25 doubles champions after beating Indian duo Dev Prajwal and Ishaque Eqbal 6⁵-7 7-6⁷ 10-7 in Saturday’s final. On top of the trophy, they walked away with a cash prize of $1,550. The overall winner of the tournament’s singles gets 25 points on top of a cash prize of $3,600.
