A toast to the Queen’s Birthday

Britons living in Rwanda were joined by friends and well-wishers to celebrate the 88th birthday of the Queen of England Her Majesty Elizabeth II at the British High Commissioner’s residence in Kigali on Wednesday. The guests wined and dined as musician Eric Mucyo’s band performed live. It was a jovial mood as smartly dressed guests mingled and chatted during the evening event that started at 7.00 pm and ended at 11.00pm. In his speech, William Gelling, the British High Commissioner to Rwanda, talked about the life and achievements of Queen Elizabeth II who has reigned for 62 years now, describing her as someone who has served her Kingdom with diligence and integrity. Notable among the guests was Finance Minister, Amb. Claver Gatete, Amb. Jeanine Kambanda, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Seraphine Mukantabana, Minister for Disaster Management and Refugee Affairs and Stephen Constantine, the new head coach of the Amavubi National Football Team. Other dignitaries included, Amb. Richard Kabonero, Uganda’s High Commissioner to Rwanda, who also doubles as the Dean of Ambassadors to Rwanda, Sheikh Ibrahim Kayitare, Head of Muslim community in Rwanda and Bralirwa’s Managing Director Jonathan Hall, among other dignitaries.
