APR women basketball club has suspended head coach Charles Mbazumutima from his duties until further notice. Times Sport understands that the decision was taken after club's Game 1 loss to rivals Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in the ongoing basketball league playoffs finals earlier this month. ALSO READ: PHOTOS: Finals: Tetero stars in Game 4 as APR edge closer to championship He was replaced by assistant coach Deo Nkurikiyinka who will take charge of the club on interim role. Mbazumutima has been in charge of the APR women's team since 2004, and guided the club to the league title in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2019. ALSO READ: Women Basketball: APR ready to topple REG in playoffs finals Currently, APR women lead the playoffs finals series 3-1 after coming from Game 1 loss to at the hands of rivals Rwanda Energy Group (REG) women to win three straight games including Wednesday night’s 77-67 Game 4 win that moved the team a game away from winning the championship. Game 5 will take place on Friday, September 15, at 7pm at BK Arena. Should APR win it, they will be declared champions.
