Abdul Ngoge opened the scoring with a try in the fifth minute before Benjamin Makombe and Vincent Kamali added one try each in the second half to secure the win for Rwanda. Burundi’s Christian Mugabonihera converted two penalties for his team. Burundi will take on the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) today at Amahoro Stadium. Rwanda will play their second and last game against DR Congo on Saturday. Last year, Rwanda defeated Burundi 30-10. After the three teams play each other, the team with the highest number of points will qualify for the Division 3, which includes countries like Gabon, Cameroon and Ethiopia. “I am very pleased with the way the team played. However, we have to train very hard ahead of the game against Congo, which is going to be very tough,” said Rwanda’s head coach Ismail Macevakaca.
