A Congolese man was arrested on Tuesday in Rusizi District after Police recovered a pistol in his luggage. Sanka Amor Bamure, who was apparently driving a Congolese commuter omnibus, was apprehended on the Rwanda side of Bugarama border in Ryankana Cell, Bugarama Sector. Assistant Inspector of Police Javan Mvano, Police spokesperson for the Western region said the pistol, serial number 16288 had been concealed in a bag of rice. Bamure is currently detained at Kamembe Police Station as investigations continue. “Investigations are still ongoing to ascertain where he got the pistol and where he was taking it,” AIP Mvano added. He appealed to members of the public that still possess firearms to voluntarily hand them to security organs or local authorities.
