Farmers from Muhanga, Kamunyu, Ngoma and Kayonza districts yesterday celebrated Farmers’ Field Day in Kayonza District. The Day was organised by the Rwanda Rural Rehabilitation Initiative RWARRI in partnership with Rwanda Cooperative Agency (RCA). It attracted development partners, government officials, agronomists and farmers from the four districts. The participants toured various farms and after discussed ways of improving agriculture production. Gilbert Habyarimana, the Deputy Director Alliance General Rwanda Cooperative (RCA), urged the farmers to improve their managerial skills by maintaining a crop calendar, diversifying the cropping system and proper planning to increase the productivity of land and water. He said efforts to build the capacity of farmers’ cooperatives were bearing fruits. “We know how important farmers’ cooperatives are to the development of the country. We want to build their capacity even more,” he said.
