SIX junior tennis players are heading to Burundi for this year’s ITF/CAT East Africa Junior Tennis Championship slated for May 18 to 25 in Bujumbura. The Under 14 players include; Francis Ntwali, Grace Ndahunga, Fabrice Tuyishime, Brian Ndahiro, Chantal Mutuyimana and Clenia Niyonshima. Head coach Justin Ntaheranwa told Sunday Sport that he believes that this is yet another chance for the youngsters to get exposed to an international tennis atmosphere. “I feel really satisfied with the way they play during practice sessions, this gives me hope that we are going to leave our mark.” “They have trained hard and I can tell you that they are ripe enough for the championship. Some of the players are not new to events of such magnitude; they have played some of these East African players before.” “Last year we had Ernest Habiyambere being the best ranked player and we hope to produce another shining star in this year’s edition,” added Ntaheranwa. The Bujumbura event will involve players from Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia and Seychelles.
