Profemmes in joint deal on women issues

The Gender Monitoring Office (GMO) and a local organisation advocating for human and children rights known by its French acronym Profemmes Twese Hamwe, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding under which they will work closely to handle critical challenges faced by women. The partnership which mainly focuses on defending women rights, was reached in Kigali on Monday. Under the deal, Profemmes will get reports about women issues using its countrywide network, and submitting findings to GMO for joint action. On the other hand, GMO committed to making an action plan and conducting advocacy on women rights and programmes that promote women. Rose Rwabuhihi, the Chief Gender Monitor, said: “We want to do more advocacy for women at local level.” “This MoU will help us share experience from different backgrounds since we have a common target,” she added. Jean d’Arc Kanakuze, the chairperson of Profemme Twese hamwe, said it was good for the government to partner with the civil society. She said it will help in good utilisation of logistics designed to help women.
