WESTERN PROVINCE RUSIZI—Three hundred Rwandan former-refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), have been brought home to Nyagatare. The group arrived home after passing through a transit camp in Rusizi District. Made up largely of children, many of the returnees are to be settled in Nyabiheke camp in Matimba sector. An official from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees said this weekend most would be permanently resettled in that sector. The UNHCR has been working hard recently to avoid over population at the camp and scarcity of food at the returnee camps. The Ministry of Local Government, along with UNHCR, is anticipating to transfer 100 more from Nyagatare refugee camp to Kiziba in Kibuye District.Nyagatare refugee transit camp accommodates around 2000 Rwandan returnees, the majority of them being children.Ends
