RWANDA Youth Volleyball team head coach Paul Bitok is confident of securing a slot in the Youth Olympic Games to be held in Nanjing, China from August 16 to 28. Coach Bitok said his team will be on top level when they participate at the African Youth Games slated for Gaborone from May 22-31. Bitok has been training the Youth team since mid April this year before the players were released to return back to their respective schools. “The players will return to camp on May 6 and our aim is to qualify for the Youth Olympic Games and that’s why we have started early preparations,” “They have responded well in the past training session and I believe at the time of the tournament, they will be ready for the event. We will continue to work hard to make them better before the tournament,” he said. The Youth team is aiming to emulate the beach volleyball teams (male and female) that defied odds to win the African title and even qualify for the Youth Olympic Games. The former Kenyan international, Bitok guided the pair of Seraphine Mukantambara and Lea Uwimbabazi to the African youth girls’ title in Ghana early this month while the boys’ duo of Justin Munyinya and Sylvestre Ndayisaba also qualified. Ghana won the boys’ title.
