Quarter-finals, 1st leg Saturday Interforce 0-1 Isonga Unity 0-2 Sunrise Vision JN 0-0 SEC Academy Sorwathe 1-0 Bugesera Favourites Isonga FC and Sunrise won their first leg matches of the second division quarter-finals away from home on Saturday to move one step closer to promotion to the topflight division. Youthful Isonga beat Interforce 1-0 in the first-leg match at Ferwafa ground, while Sunrise won 2-0 against Unity at Red Cross grounds in Kacyiru. Yves Rwasamanzi’s team won their game thanks Yamini Sarumu’s sixth minute only goal. Isonga topped Pool A, while Interforce finished second in Pool B, behind Sunrise. “We are pleased to take the first-leg advantage and I hope we can finish off the job in the return leg at home,” Isonga FC head coach Rwasamanzi said after the match on Saturday. In other first-leg matches of the quarter-finals, also held on Saturday, last year’s semi-finalists Sunrise of Rwamagana district beat Unity FC 2-0 at Kicukiro turf, SEC Academy were held to a goalless draw by Vision Jeunesse, while Sorwathe beat last year’s peace cup semi-finalists Bugesera 1-0. The second leg matches will be played on April 27 with the aggregate winners proceeding to the semi-finals, while two finalists gain promotion to the first division.
