E.S KIGOMA handball club coach Sylvester Mudaharishema has tipped his young players to win the on-going Rwanda Handball Championship. The Ruhango District-based team, E.S Kigoma leads the standings with nine points after playing three rounds of the season. Mudaharishema revealed to Times Sport that he is resolute his side will go an extra mile in search for this year’s title as his youthful side put up a promising start in the championship. “My players are under 20 years of age with tested skills. This paves way for success ahead as the elite players in the league are scattered in various teams contrary to previous years where they were lined up in one or two clubs,” Mudaharishema noted. He added that his title hopes lie in his juvenile squad which forms the foundation of the national handball team. ES Kigoma thwarted rivals Rambura 44 -29 in their previous fixture and will face UR-CASS (formerly Kigali Institute of Education – KIE) on May 10. The reigning champions, Gicumbi are ranked 6 with 2 points while former champions Police HC comes in fifth slot with 3 points. However, both sides have two matches in hand. The Rwanda Handball championship is composed of nine teams namely ES Kigoma, G.S St Aloys, APR, UR-CE, Police, Gicumbi, Nyakabanda, G.S Rambura, UR-CASS.
