Kalisa demands unpaid arrears from Gasabo United

FORMER Police assistant coach Jean-Paul Kalisa has threatened to quit and also drag second division outfit Gasabo United to court if his salary arrears worth Rwf 1.5 m are not cleared. Kalisa who earns Rwf 250,000 per month has spent the last six months without getting any penny for his services at the second division side. “I have been lenient enough and I think it’s high time I quit and look for something productive to do. The club managers have been avoiding us for some time and are nowhere to be reached,” frustrated Kalisa said before adding, “We make phone calls but they don’t pick our calls. I am now looking for something else to do and if by July I am not sorted out, I will search for another club to manage and even drag the club to courts of law.” One of the footballers Eric Canderra said that since last season, they have not earned a single penny but the players still managed to help the club to reach the semi finals. This season, Gasabo United ended their campaign for top division flight in ninth position with eight points in a possible 54, winning only one game; drawing five and losing 14 respectively. At the start of this season, the club owned by former Ferwafa vice president Raoul Gisanura Ngezi promised to provide tuition for the club’s young players but the promise was never fulfilled as these school-going young footballers were suddenly chased away from their respective schools over failure to pay fees. Efforts to talk to Gisanura were futile as repeated calls to his known number were not picked tips or returned by press time.
