The African Development Bank (AfDB) has opened online registration for those who want to attend its Annual Meetings in Kigali next month, a statement from the financier indicates. This year’s African Development Bank Annual Meetings will take place in Rwanda from May 19-23 at the Kigali Serena Hotel. The meetings will be attended by finance ministers and central bank governors from the bank’s 54 regional member countries, and will attract over 2,500 delegates representing multilateral finance institutions, development agencies, the private sector and non-governmental organizations. The 49th Annual Meetings for the African Development Bank and the 40th meetings of its soft loan affiliate, the African Development Fund (ADF), will focus on the theme “The next 50 years: The Africa we want”, the statement added. AfDB will also be celebrating 50 years since its establishment, while Rwanda will also celebrate 20 years since its liberation, as well as 40 years since it joined the continental bank. In Rwanda, the bank funds several multimillion projects in energy (the $41m grant to Scaling up Energy Access Project), agriculture and education. It also directly funds the Private Sector Federation to support business development.
