A woman suspected of killing her husband last weekend has been arrested. The suspect (name withheld), a resident of Rusizi District, is alleged to have conspired in the murder of her husband over property. The victim was hacked to death last Saturday night. “Besides land wrangles between the couple, there were also disagreements over a recently acquired micro-finance loan,” Marie Uwimana, a neighbour said. “We last saw the victim the previous evening, heading to his home, only to be found the next morning hacked to pieces and his body dumped in his own kraal,” Uwimana added. She said a blooded machete that allegedly belongs to the home was later recovered near the home. Chief Superintendent Francis Gahima, the Western Province Police spokesperson, confirmed the suspect’s arrest. He added that investigations are ongoing to ascertain if there are other people involved.
